We call it 'The Caterpillar'

A few weeks ago Molly started scooting around. We think she kinda looks like a caterpillar (a very noisy caterpillar, she wouldn't be able to sneak up on too many people).

Molly was a good luck charm last Saturday for the University of Utah. She didn't really watch the game, but she wore this outfit and the Utes won. You do the math.

Molly got to go to her first baseball game tonight. Brady would have preferred that her first baseball experience had been watching the Mariners, but I'm sure Molly won't remember and will be a die hard Mariners fan just like her daddy. They were showing fireworks after the game, but we thought we'd leave since Molly didn't appreciate them the first time she saw them. We were trying to get to our car, but they wouldn't let us because we would have had to walk too close to where they were setting the fireworks off. So...Molly got to watch the whole show. She did really well considering it was way past her bedtime and the fireworks were super loud.

One of the presents that Molly got when she was born was this ring that has a little net that holds fruit so that Molly can suck on the fruit without choking on it. She's super cute when she's sucking on it, so we thought we'd share the cuteness.

Molly is so grabby and can get to anything if we aren't careful. She can't suck on a staw yet, so she just chews on it. It's pretty cute.

My big sister

  I got to go see Little Women last week with my sister Paula. It was so fun for many reasons. Molly has been teething and has been miserable the last little while. I needed a break and Brady was so good to give up his ticket to the play, a huge sacrifice since Brady loves musicals. The play was really fun. I didn't know I would enjoy it so much. The theatre was filled with two huge bus loads of high school students. Obviously the drama club. Paula and I got a kick out of watching the boys especially. I think every boy on the front row was sobbing through the sad parts of the play. Not that I think anything is wrong with crying, but they seriously had no control at all. The girls weren't even crying as hard. They were seriously shaking and sniffling, the whole works. I felt really insensitive as Paula and I were trying to contain our laughter.

 I was planning on posting this last week, but while waiting for my picture to upload I checked out Paula's blog. She hasn't blogged in weeks, but when she decides to blog again she can only make fun of my near death experience. I almost didn't post this, but I couldn't let my precious time go to waste. ;)

 Anyway...back to Paula. We went tubing down the provo river a couple weeks ago and I ended up "falling" in the freezing water. They had said to stay away from the sides and as I was about to run into a tree I freaked out and ended up in the water. It was at one of the faster parts of the river and I could not get back on my tube. I seriously thought I was going to die. Paula tried to slow down as much as she could to encourage me that I would be okay. After finally getting back on the tube I was ready to be done and we still had more than an hour left. Paula was there to get me through it. It reminded me of how great she has always been to me. As young girls we used to share a bed and when I felt scared I would ask Paula to put her arm around me and she would. She would always share her chips with me which Paula considers to be one of the 5 food groups. She has always looked out for me and I feel so lucky to have her as a big sister.

We spent the Fourth of July in Park City with Marsha's family.  We were wondering if she would like the fireworks, but we didn't get to find out.  About five minutes before they started Molly started getting fussy, so we don't know if she was crying because she was tired or because the fireworks were loud.  

Also, if you look really closely you can see Molly's little tooth.

Happy 6 months Molly!

Molly is 6 months old today. It has gone by so fast. She is learning so much and growing so big. At her last doctor's appointment she weighed 16 pounds and 10 oz putting her in the 73rd percentile. She is in the 98th percentile in height and her head is in the 94th. She is definitely her daddy's girl. Molly has been pretty fussy this last week and I thought it was because we were both missing her daddy, but the other day as she was sucking on my finger I felt something sharp. She has her first tooth! I'm sure she still misses her daddy, but she has been her happy little self since that tooth poked through. Also, as you can see in the pictures Molly LOVES to eat! We have started her on solid foods and we haven't found anything yet that she doesn't like.

China

After way too many hours flying and hanging out in airports (like 26 or 27 hours) I finally made it to China. The flights weren't that great, but I did get to watch Step Up 2 on the airplane, so the trip wasn't a total loss. We (my boss and I) flew in to Hong Kong and then took a van across the border to China. This picture is from my hotel room. My room is actually pretty nice. They have about 4 English channels that aren't news on tv (I don't count ESPN as news) and I have a huge window overlooking part of China. If you look closely at the picture you can see that there is a KFC right by our building. So far I'm liking the American food better than the Chinese food. We had dinner at this Chinese place where I was lucky enough to taste some frog and this fish thing. The 'highlight' of that night was it rained crazy hard and flooded parts of the streets so we didn't get home until after 1:00 in the morning. The water was probably three feet deep in some places. So, that's China so far.

Missing Daddy!

I think these pictures speak for themselves. Molly just isn't the same without her daddy. Brady is in China for two weeks working. I am so excited that he gets to see China, but not so excited that he is so far away from us. I am amazed at how emotional I have been and it has only been two days! Brady and I didn't have the typical courtship. He lived in Washington until a few days before we got married. We were lucky if we got to see each other twice a month. I thought this trip would be easier because of that, but it's not. Our love has grown so much stronger since then and now we have our little house with our little Molly. Two weeks of her little life seems like so much. I know she won't remember, but I know Brady is missing her. I am just so grateful for the husband I have and all that he does for me and Molly.

Molly has found yet another thing to suck on besides a binky and a bottle.  She has also figured out how to undo her diaper (at least the right side of it) if we let her just hang out without clothes on.

Our little Krusty

In the last few weeks Molly has lost a lot of hair.  It used to just be a bald spot on the back of her head, but now it is all falling out.  Instead of crying about it or investing in a baby wig, we find comfort in the fact that we can make our daughter look like Krusty the clown.

Yea for Washington

We were able to go to Washington to visit Brady's family over Memorial Day weekend.  Molly got to meet her cousin Katelin and Uncle Ben and Aunt Alissa for the first time.  It was a fun trip.  Molly did very well during the drive, we only had to stop a few times.  For some reason she didn't really like listening to the audio book we were listening to.  She would start being fussy and we'd have to play some music and she'd be fine.  We were trying to listen to Eragon, maybe she thought the voice of the dragon sounded as stupid as we did and decided to voice her opinion.  

It was really nice to spend time with family and friends and be able to let Molly spend some time with Grandma and Grandpa while we rested.  Also, we both loved seeing the majestic Columbia River and not having the beautiful sky being blocked by all those annoying mountains.

This is how I roll

We've been keeping Molly on a strict diet and making sure she's at the gym at least three hours a day.  All the hard work has finally paid off.  Molly figured out how to roll over.  She seems kinda shocked when she first rolls over, but she seems to like it.  It's pretty pathetic how excited we got over Molly rolling over.

Maybe springtime is finally here

Even though it snowed the day before, we went for a walk around Temple Square and the flowers were beautiful. We took some cute pics of Molly. She only tried to eat the grass once.

Bundled up

We went to Park City this weekend with Brady's parents.  It was nice to get away for a little bit, but it was pretty cold for the end of April.  We stayed about a month at the outlet mall.  Brady's sister Julie is a maniac shopper.  But Molly was a trooper.  She was really good the whole time and we were there for almost 5 hours.  Hopefully she doesn't get her aunt's love of shopping.  We ate at a not-so-great Mexican restaurant, walked down Main Street, and went hot tubbing.  We had a really nice time and Molly thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandparents and aunt.

Just to be clear, we love Molly and in no way think she 'sucks'.  But she does like sucking on all kinds of things, just not on things that we want her to suck on.  She acts offended if we try to give her a bottle and just lets the binky fall out of her mouth.  But everything else is okay: blankets, arms, our fingers, her fingers, and even her own tongue.

We set up this little bouncer last week.  Molly isn't quite tall enough to use it properly, so her feet just barely touch the bottom.  So pretty much all she does is lean forward and drool.  And her head hits the toys when we spin her around.  A good time is had by all.

How long have you been married? Four years. The best of my life.

Who said I love you first? Brady, but I fell in love with him first.

How long did you date? It's hard to say since we never had the typical courtship. Brady was in Washington and I was in Utah until our wedding day. We talked on the phone and emailed for 8 months and saw each other probably once a month.

Where did he propose? He proposed outside the conference center during Christmas time. He had my ring in a Kinder egg. They were kinda our thing. They are chocolate eggs with a prize inside. He had somehow opened one and replaced the prize with my ring. I couldn't even tell. I wish I could have seen my face when I saw the ring.

Who is taller? Brady by a little ;)

Who is smarter? I'd have to say Brady.

Who does the laundry? This is embarrassing. We both do

Who mows the lawn? Brady, but I've done it a few times

Bad hair day??

I was at a friend's house today and her little 3 year old saw Molly and asked, "What is wrong with her hair?" I guess it can get a little wild. She didn't even see the back of her head. I gave Molly her first hair trim about a week ago. It was getting long and straggly and the bald spot looked even worse before I cut it. I hope it will grow back fast.

Molly had her 4 month check up today. We think she has a crush on her doctor. She couldn't stop smiling at him. It was cute. She now weighs 14 lbs 10 oz and is 26 in long. She's in the 84th percentile in weight and the 96th in height. She was very brave when she got her shots.

It is so easy to get Molly to smile these days. She even laughed for the first time a few nights ago. There is nothing better in the whole world than seeing your baby happy. Molly slept a lot her first month and a half and it has been fun to have her awake more often. We do miss the cuddling though.  She still cuddles, just not as much as she used to.

Last week Molly really found her voice.  She almost never stops talking.  It's way cute.  We decided not to put on her screeching voice because we don't like to encourage that type of behavior.  It's really loud.  And screechy.  And seriously hurts our ears.

My Grandma Decker

My grandma passed away today. I am so happy for her, but so sad at the same time. She wasn't able to really enjoy life anymore and I know that she is happy now, something that she wasn't for most of her life. I am so grateful for the knowledge I have that I will be able to see her again and that she has returned to her Heavenly Father. I am so glad that she got to see Molly. She could never stop telling me how beautiful she was and her face would light up whenever she saw Molly. She has done so much for my family and was always so generous in every way.

What I loved and Remember about my Grandma Decker

-She used to play store with us and let us "buy" her jewelry with fake money. I used to think it was the most beautiful jewelry ever.
-We used to go to dinner at my grandma's on Sundays and we always had pot roast. Everything was always perfectly prepared and she would have our names at our place settings. it made me feel so special.

-She would have us over for sleepovers and we would walk to trolley square. She would have TV trays set out for us with our favorite things on them.

-She always wore bright red lipstick. She always wanted to look nice.

-She wore turbans...I don't know why she finally stopped. I thought they were cool.

-She knew how to arrange food on a plate so it looked beautiful.

-If I needed help getting a stain out of clothes. She could do it. She taught me to use dove dish soap on grease stains.

-We used to go to a lot of movies with Grandma and she would talk so loud. It made me laugh.

-The way she laughed at Paula's chubby jokes.

-Anytime she laughed, I loved it.

-PEPSI

There are many other things I'm sure, but these are just a few things that made my grandma so great. I love you Grandma!

We noticed that this cute little pink outfit was covered with banners that said 'Princes.'  Either this outfit was supposed to fit two boys at the same time or they missed an 's' at the end.

We thought Molly's hair kinda looked like Donald Trump's when we parted it to the side.  Except way cuter.
